We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated healthcare technicians with a keen interest in caring for the critically ill and their families, to join our Critical Care Team at Dorset County Hospital as a Band 3 Technician. You will be providing essential technical support in the assessment and management of critically ill patients.
This hands‑on role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail, strong teamwork skills, and a passion for supporting high‑quality patient care in a fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities
* Performing essential safety checks within the department
* Supporting the distribution of essential stores, supplies and pharmaceuticals throughout the department, including contribution to the management of stock
* Preparing and decontaminating specialist Critical Care equipment as per manufacturers guidelines to support patient care
* Contributing to the ongoing maintenance of clinical equipment in the department through liaison with the medical engineering department
* Assisting staff with manual handling of complex patients and, when requested, assisting the therapies team with delivery of specific interventions such as physiotherapy exercise and mouth care
* Providing technical support in the assessment and management of Critical Care patients
* When requested by the registered nurse, undertaking cannulation, venepuncture, arterial sampling, ECGs, and male and female catheterisation
* Supporting the registered nurse with accurate and contemporaneous documentation such as contributing to patient diaries, care plans, recording observations/fluid balance, and pressure area care
* Ensuring up‑to‑date competence and compliance with Trust mandatory training
