Senior Occupational Therapist in Hospital Avoidance and Complex Care
An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Hospital Avoidance and Complex Care teams for a full-time Band 6 Occupational Therapist. The successful candidate will work three days in the hospital avoidance and complex care teams, providing a quality therapy service to patients in the Emergency Department at Pinderfields Hospital, assessment units on the Pinderfields and Dewsbury sites, and supporting patients with recovery and discharge planning at Dewsbury Hospital.
The teams work both generically and maintain professional roles and standards. The team comprises GPs, consultants, physiotherapists, nurses, and dedicated care coordinators to support rapid discharge. The hospital avoidance team and complex care team collaborate with a supportive group of therapists and have strong links to community services such as Virtual Ward, IV therapy team, ICT, and reablement services.
The team operates 5 days over 7 per week, with standard shift patterns: 8am - 4pm and 10am - 6pm within the hospital avoidance team, and 8am - 4pm in the complex care team at Dewsbury. Flexible working will be considered.
The caseload includes a variety of conditions, from falls to fast-track patients wishing to return home. The successful candidate must be adaptable, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills.
Main Duties of the Job
* Maintain professional standards in patient management and treatment.
* Coordinate and liaise with relevant disciplines and agencies, encouraging inter-disciplinary cooperation.
* Evaluate the Therapy Service and plan future developments with the Clinical Lead, Service Lead, and Therapy Service Lead.
* Supervise and support team members.

Job Responsibilities
