* Opportunity to be part of NFU Mutual’s National High Net Worth Underwriting team in a growth area of the business
* Join a department which offers ongoing training and development opportunities with potential for the role to become permanent in future
* Hybrid 80% homeworking available and 20% from our office in Bristol or York
About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Underwriter to join our High Net Worth Underwriting team on a 12-month fixed-term contract basis, with potential for the role to become permanent. The focus will be primarily on our Bespoke home insurance product, and you will be responsible for building and maintaining effective relationships with our NFU Mutual Agents, providing technical support and assistance on renewals, mid-term adjustments, and new business.
As a Bespoke Underwriter, you will underwrite risks that align with NFUM’s risk appetite. You will work closely with colleagues across sales, underwriting, head office, loss control, and the agency network to ensure excellent service and underwriting standards.
NFU Mutual provides a comprehensive induction and a tailored training plan to support your development. Ongoing training will help enhance your High Net Worth underwriting and market knowledge.
This role offers a 35-hour workweek, with shift patterns between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, and no weekends. Our hybrid working model allows you to work from home up to 80% of the time once fully trained.
About you
We seek a customer-focused underwriting specialist committed to delivering the best solutions for clients while managing risk effectively. Home underwriting experience is essential; High Net Worth expertise is beneficial but not required, as training will be provided. Ideally, you will hold intermediate underwriting authority or be working towards it.
You should be proactive, self-motivated, and dedicated to high standards. Your solutions-focused, adaptable, and customer-centric approach will be vital for success.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to articulate solutions clearly and influence colleagues. Strong time management and organizational skills are essential for efficiency and delivering excellent customer outcomes. Collaboration and stakeholder management skills are crucial to develop tailored insurance solutions.
We value coaching and mentoring abilities, supporting others' development and providing constructive feedback. Resilience and positivity are important to navigate challenges and change.
At NFU Mutual, we support an inclusive workplace and value diversity. We encourage candidates to discuss any adjustments needed during recruitment. We are a Disability Confident Employer, and we welcome applications from all backgrounds, regardless of age, ethnicity, disability, neurodiversity, gender, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic background.
