Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has a new opportunity for a Capital Projects Programme Manager on a 3 months contract with the possibility of further extension.
Main purpose of the role
To provide professional construction related technical and contractual support to deliver a high value, fast paced programme of refurbishment work on client’s commercial property portfolio.
Responsibilities and duties
* To Programme Manage a large number of Capital construction projects from inception to completion.
* Tender, Appoint and manage a team of multi-disciplinary construction design consultants to support the client in delivering this programme of works.
* To lead on Stakeholder engagement, Project Brief development and Feasibility Study work to ensure the correct programme of work is tailored to the defined budget envelope.
* Effectively manage and control the construction projects from inception to completion ensuring project and contract documentation is in place and updated on a regular basis. i.e. project plans, risks logs, issue logs, financial monitoring/control, consultant management, contract management, etc.
* Undertake the procurement of Consultants and Contractors, including assisting in the preparation of Briefs and Specifications as necessary
* Ensure industry recognised protocols are followed. E.g. Planning procedures, Building Regulations, Contract Administration, Contract Management, Project Management, RIBA methodology, CDM 2015, etc.
Requirements
* Strong programme and project management skills with the ability to plan, manage and control construction projects from inception to completion.
* Strong budget monitoring skills.
* Demonstrable experience in delivering fast pace, high value construction contracts.
* Confident and have the ability to use IT systems i.e. Word, Excel, MS Project etc
* Knowledge of construction programme and project management methodologies (Ideally PRINCE2 or Agile, but not essential if experience can be demonstrated)
* General understanding of facilities management principles
* Understanding and current knowledge of the statutory regulations and provisions relevant to the relevant project activity, e.g. Health and Safety and CDM.
* Understanding of performance management methodologies and how performance review underpins service improvement
* Significant experience of successfully delivering capital construction projects and programmes within the public sector.
* Management of projects budgets and providing effective financial forecasting.
* Evidence/strong track record of successful effective stakeholder management in the delivery of capital projects and decision making.
* Professional Membership to a recognised construction related Chartered Institute (E.g. RICS or CIOB) or demonstrable experience in delivering successful construction capital projects for at least 5 years.
