We’re looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, and creative SEN Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic specialist school supporting children with Autism and complex communication needs. Many of the pupils use Makaton, PECS, and other non‑verbal communication methods, so experience with alternative communication strategies is highly valued.
What You’ll Be Doing
One moment you could be leading a sensory activity, the next you’re helping a child communicate their first choice using PECS or celebrating a breakthrough with Makaton signs. You’ll work closely with teachers and therapists to create engaging, inclusive learning experiences that build confidence, independence, and joy.
We’re Looking For Someone Who
* Loves thinking outside the box and bringing learning to life
* Has experience using Makaton, PECS, or other alternative communication methods
* Has supported non‑verbal children or young people with SEND
* Is patient, positive, and able to build trusting relationships
* Enjoys sensory play, creative activities, storytelling, music, art, or outdoor learning
* Wants to make a genuine difference every single day

Ideal Experience

* Makaton and/or PECS knowledge
* Autism (ASC/ASD) support
* SEND or specialist education experience
