Overview
FTI Consulting is seeking a Consultant in Capital Market Services within the Economic and Financial Consulting (EFC) practice. You will primarily work with the Capital Markets Services team, focusing on financial, commodity and energy markets, and may contribute to the broader EFC work or other practices. You will conduct research and analysis under the guidance of more senior team members, carrying out quantitative, industry and market analyses, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of your research, and reporting findings clearly in writing or verbally.
Responsibilities
* Support the senior team with writing articles and preparing proposals and presentations for new opportunities.
* Perform research and collaborate in the implementation of proprietary valuation and risk management solutions.
* Implement practical and effective solutions to address client issues, bringing industry insight and experience.
* Contribute to the development of bespoke approaches to solve complex, unstructured problems in a logical manner.
* Explain work and communicate conclusions clearly, both verbally and in writing, with attention to big-picture context and detailed findings.
Emerging knowledge and competencies (desirable)
* Understanding of financial instruments, derivatives valuation and risk management techniques in at least one asset class (equity, fixed income, credit, FX, interest rates, commodities, energy).
* Familiarity with global financial market policies and regulations.
* Knowledge of recent market developments (algorithmic trading, ESG, cryptocurrencies and digital assets, derivatives).
* Ability to critically evaluate sources and assumptions; apply robust methods to address complex issues.
* Ability to produce high-quality work and create efficiencies under restricted timelines; strong time management to handle multiple tasks.
* Experience in summarising analysis and conducting research to support reports or presentations.
* Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint; intermediate programming knowledge (e.g., Python, R, C++).
* Working knowledge of financial systems and data providers (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters).
* Proficiency in speaking and writing in another European language is considered a plus.
Basic Qualifications
* BA/BSc, MSc or PhD in a quantitative discipline.
* Relevant work experience and/or academic background in quantitative finance, derivative valuation or risk management roles in investment banking, asset management or energy/commodity sectors.
* At least two years of professional experience and/or extracurricular activities demonstrating the ability to be an effective Consultant and alignment with our values.
Preferred Qualifications
* In the process of completing or having completed a relevant professional qualification (e.g., CFA, CQF, FRM, CAIA) is an advantage.
* Prior advisory experience and delivering work in contentious contexts (litigation, arbitration, investigations or disputes) is a plus.
