The Caithness Integrated Midwifery Team are looking for midwives to work in the Community Midwifery Unit based in Wick. The post offers an exciting opportunity for experienced midwives who are keen to practice midwife-led care and to develop skills as autonomous practitioners in remote and rural practice.
The midwifery team provide maternity services within the community midwifery unit based in Caithness General Hospital, and across the Caithness and North Sutherland area. The service offers local birth for low risk pregnancies, facilitates approximately 20 births annually and supports around 150 women throughout their pregnancy and postnatal period.
The midwifery team work flexibly to provide a 24/7 service with an on call provision. A full and current driving licence is essential for this post.
Location
The Community Midwifery Unit is situated in Wick, the most northerly town on the east coast and within the beautiful county of Caithness with stunning scenery and dramatic coastlines. The town of Wick has a vibrant local community with many amenities including a supermarket, cafes, restaurants, takeaways, hotels and churches.
The area provides the opportunity to enjoy village life, explore the rural lochs and both sandy and rocky beaches. There is the opportunity to experience wild swimming or surfing or to relax and watch the local wildlife including seals, puffins, deer, otters and orca.
