Overview
We require a minimum commitment of at least one day a week (to see 2-4 patients for psychotherapy including your training patient, and 1 assessment per month, depending on your clinical experience) over at least a 12-month period. This honorary position is offered to applicants seeking experience as part of their psychotherapy studies. The successful applicant will work closely with 3 psychodynamic psychotherapists (across North and South Bucks), a group analyst and a multidisciplinary team of clinical psychologists, CBT therapists, family therapists and others in the South of the county. There may be opportunities to observe in other areas of the service for example, pre-therapy or psychoeducational groups, subject to availability. The role provides exposure to a range of therapeutic approaches.
Responsibilities
* Weekly experience assisting the Psychological Therapies team in therapy assessment sessions with clients, observing psychological therapists at work.
* Develop skills in drafting Assessment Reports and recommendations and, where appropriate, conduct your own assessment.
* Contribute to audit and quality improvement where appropriate.
* Collate clinical background information and history from electronic health records to understand mental health in context.
* Join opportunities to observe across different areas of the service as available.
* Engage in professional development through mandatory NHS training and additional workshops related to mental health.
* Receive weekly supervision from a qualified psychotherapist and work closely with a supervising psychotherapist.
