North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) is seeking an experienced Emergency Practitioner who is either a Registered Nurse or Paramedic to assess, investigate, diagnose and treat patients in the Minor Injury Unit.
Working in the Minor Injury Unit within the Emergency Department across 7 days of the week, with shift patterns of 10–12 hours between 07:00 and 23:00.
Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
* Provide clear and effective leadership.
* Participate in assessment, planning and delivery of direct patient care across the Emergency Department, Ambulatory Unit and Minor Injuries Unit.
* Be fully accountable and responsible for shift management.
* Independently assess, investigate, diagnose and treat patients in specific client groups.
* Manage the see-and-treat environment safely, ensuring effective practice at all times by key personnel in the area.
* Work in collaboration with the Ward manager and Clinical Matron to ensure the delivery of high calibre evidence‑based patient care, and encourage and develop a flexible workforce through efficient use of facilities, manpower and other resources.
* Initiate, promote and maintain high standards of practice within the team in line with departmental requirements.
* Provide clinical expertise both on shift and when representing the department.
* Manage all resources effectively and within budget parameters.
* Actively participate in audit.
Person Specification
Essential criteria:
* ENP course/APICA or equivalent.
Desirable criteria:
* Masters or working towards one.
Clinical Skills
Essential criteria:
* Experience of working in ED or urgent care.
Desirable criteria:
* Area of particular interest within ED/service development.
Experience
Essential criteria:
* At least 2 years at band 6.
