Health Care Assistant / Phlebotomist
Join the NHS Lincolnshire team as a Health Care Assistant / Phlebotomist.
Employer: Sutton Medical Group, Trafalgar Square, Long Sutton, Spalding, Lincolnshire, PE12 9HB.
Contract: Permanent – full‑time / part‑time.
Salary: depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform venepuncture and collect blood samples.
* Record and monitor patients' vital signs and observations.
* Conduct ECGs and support chronic disease management clinics.
* Support clinicians with minor procedures and patient care.
* Carry out NHS health checks and provide health promotion advice.
* Maintain accurate and timely clinical records.
* Ensure infection prevention and control standards are met.
* Work flexibly across both Long Sutton and Sutton Bridge surgery sites.
* Assist with routine clinical tasks such as blood pressure monitoring, ECGs, urine testing, and basic health assessments, NHS Health Checks.
* Support nurses and GPs where required.
* Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient records and test results.
* Provide compassionate care and support to patients, addressing queries and concerns professionally.
* Promote patient health and wellbeing, including providing advice on basic lifestyle and self‑care measures where required.
* Maintain confidentiality and adhere to GDPR and professional standards.
Qualifications & Experience
* Essential: Experience working as a Health Care Assistant or Phlebotomist.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Organised, reliable, and flexible approach to work.
* Compassionate and patient‑focused attitude.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Basic IT literacy.
* Desirable: Experience in a GP or primary care environment.
* Knowledge of EMIS Web or similar clinical systems.
* NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
* Training in ECGs, blood pressure monitoring, or chronic disease support.
* Phlebotomy certification and knowledge of safe blood collection techniques.
* Basic Life Support (BLS) and first aid training preferred.
Additional Information
Work pattern: across both Long Sutton and Sutton Bridge surgery sites; flexible coverage may be required.
