This position is full time, permanent with hybrid working based at Henrietta House, London.
Job Title: Surveyor – Valuation (Affordable Housing)
Location: London
Role Purpose: To play a key part within the affordable housing and residential valuation and advisory team, providing market leading advice to housing associations, institutions, fund managers, developers, property companies, and more. The candidate will primarily provide formal valuation advice to a range of developers, registered providers, funders, and investors in the affordable housing sector.
CBRE’s Affordable Housing valuation team has rapidly grown to include 6 specialist valuers. It is part of the Living Sectors Valuation and Advisory team, comprising over 50 staff offering market leading advice to clients including high-net-worth individuals, banks, and PLCs.
The role involves assisting in providing valuations for loan security, investment, and strategic advice across the residential sector. The candidate will support the growth and expansion of the team.
Our coverage includes Central London and the South East, with valuations across developments, strategic land, Private Rented Sector, Rent to Build, Student, Co-Living, ground rents, and high-value homes in Prime Central London. Our valuations are supported by a multidisciplinary Residential team.
Recent high-profile instructions include:
* M&G – Valuers for M&G’s Shared Ownership Portfolio, advising on over 1,800 units across England;
* Peabody – Valuation of a large s.106 opportunity in zone 2 London, including 283 affordable units.
This appointment aims to extend our capabilities in affordable valuation advice. The successful candidate will lead in this area and help develop the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Engage with clients to ensure high-quality advice.
* Conduct inspections of affordable housing assets, ensuring quality standards.
* Evaluate housing conditions and drive improvements.
* Prepare valuations for various asset types across the UK, including development sites and investment portfolios.
* Draft valuation reports for accounts, loan security, and strategic purposes.
* Collaborate with senior team members on high-profile instructions.
* Assist in preparing cashflows using Excel.
* Integrate with the wider CBRE residential network and other lines of business.
* Support business development and team growth.
Person Specification/Requirements
* MRICS qualified or equivalent. Registered Valuer.
* Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Organized, detail-oriented, and focused.
* Team player with effective interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Passionate about residential and affordable housing sectors.
* Experience in affordable housing is essential.
* Valid UK driving license and access to a personal vehicle for inspections.
