The Role:Upstream Intelligence Country Lead
The Team:Upstream Solutions from S&P Global Commodity Insights comprise some of the most extensive and complete information, analytics, insight, and advisory services in the world. We deliver oil and gas databases and software, energy transition insight, energy supply and demand forecasts, and comprehensive data on transactions at the global and regional market levels.
The Impact: The Upstream Intelligence Country Lead plays a crucial role in sourcing and reporting Exploration & Production activity in the Commonwealth of Independent States region, with a primary focus on Kazakhstan. This position requires strong analytical and communication skills to develop an in-depth understanding of the E&P industry, build valuable relationships with clients, and produce high-quality reports that inform critical business strategies.

Responsibilities
* Data Compilation:Create and update Upstream Intelligence articles and special reports, ensuring timely completion and adherence to high-quality publishing standards.
* Client Advisory:Advise internal and external clients on various aspects of the energy industry in the region
* Database Management:Contribute to maintaining and enhancing the quality of the database and regional activity maps by supporting the Data Management Team in acquiring historical and current data on E&P operations, as well as identifying inconsistencies and gaps in our products.
* Research and Analysis:Conduct thorough research to locate, interpret, and leverage a variety of information, assisting with the production of articles, reports, and presentations.
* Stakeholder Engagement:Represent S&P Global Commodity Insights in direct engagements with existing and potential customers, through meetings, presentations, conferences, and other interactions, fostering relationships that enhance business opportunities.
* Team Coordination:Coordinate data management projects within the regional team, ensuring alignment with overall Upstream Research & Analysis goals and timely completion.
* Knowledge Sharing:Share insights and findings with colleagues, contributing to the overall knowledge base of the organization.
What We’re Looking For:Candidates should have a robust background in the oil and gas industry, particularly within the CIS region. The ideal candidate will possess:
* A Master's or PhD degree in a geo-technical discipline (Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering).
* Over 7 years of experience in the oil and gas sector within the CIS region.
* Proficiency in the Russian language
* Excellent English communication and professional writing skills, with a proven track record of industry-focused written content in English
* Experience or and understanding of Artificial Intelligence models
* Strong IT skills, including extensive experience with databases, GIS systems (ArcGIS, MapInfo), PowerBI, Excel
* Customer-facing experience
* Willingness to travel for business
* Exceptional data analysis skills, with a commitment to learning and adapting to new technologies.
* Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and time management skills
* The ability to build strong working relationships in a collaborative setting
