It is essential to be flexible, to understand the challenges and skills required to support patients, families, carers and staff, and to demonstrate excellent organisational skills. You must be forward‑thinking, open to developing and progressing new ideas and innovative ways of working.
The SROMC opened in March 2014 and provides integrated day‑case SACT (chemotherapy), out‑patient clinics and access to health and wellbeing facilities. The area incorporates a Macmillan Patient Information Manager and a Macmillan Welfare and Benefits Adviser, offering opportunities to support patients through treatment, with education programmes, complementary therapies and support to recovery and survivorship.
Responsibilities
* Perform basic observations.
* Assist patients attending for treatment with essential aspects of care and support outpatient clinics.
* Carry out phlebotomy, access PICC, Hickman lines and Port‑a‑Caths, perform cannulation, ECGs, bladder scanning, swabbing and basic dressings.
* Ensure the unit is clean, tidy, prepared and well‑presented, ready for patients.
* Take instructions from a range of staff, pay attention to detail and be an excellent team player and supportive colleague, while acting on your own initiative.
