The Estates Department are looking to recruit a highly motivated Maintenance Technician (Mechanical), to work as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team, primarily within the York area. The department provides management, development, maintenance and operational support for the Trust's buildings and engineering infrastructure. The role is critical to the Estates Department's very busy maintenance support service, and is demanding covering a wide range of engineering services for you to hone your skills on.
The role offers a significant opportunity to contribute to the smooth functioning, and maintenance, of a range of engineering services in the Trust's clinical, and non‑clinical facilities, within a very busy directorate, and to be part of a team that is constantly working to improve the quality and safety of the Trust's healthcare facilities.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be based at York Hospital, but must be willing to work at any of the Trust's sites. You must be flexible regarding hours of duty and will be expected to undertake appropriate training, including Health and Safety training.
The successful candidate will have a good general knowledge of building services and engineering maintenance, backed up by a BTEC, City and Guilds Craft Certificate or NVQ 3 qualification in an engineering discipline (preferably mechanical engineering).
The successful candidate must be able to work co‑operatively as part of a team, comprising skilled and semi‑skilled maintenance colleagues, and have demonstrable experience of working within a maintenance environment. In addition, the successful candidate should be reliable, resilient, enthusiastic, motivated and be able to work under pressure, with minimum supervision.
The successful candidate must have the ability to transport themselves and equipment throughout the community over the course of a normal working day.

Person Specification
Education, Qualifications and Training
* Recognised and registered ETIB or CITB (or equivalent) craft/modern apprenticeship or Time served apprenticeship (level 3)
* Current driving licence with the ability to drive category B
* HNC Mechanical Engineering
* Further specialist qualifications (minimum of three of the below on appointment, rest to be achieved within 2 years): Ventilation (CP), Medical gas (CP), Willingness to undertake necessary training that are essential to the role
Experience and Knowledge Required
* Experience of Mechanical infrastructure
* Awareness of Health & Safety procedures and use of PPE
* Formal training/experience with steam generating boilers
* Experience of pneumatic controls systems
