1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant About the Role Teach Now is recruiting on behalf of a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Barnet, seeking a resilient, calm and compassionate 1:1 SEN teaching assistant to join the team this September. This full-time role focuses on supporting a Year 4 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). He’s active, independent-minded and often prefers to work from the school library. While non-violent, he can be defiant and use inappropriate language — but beneath the behaviour is a bright young learner waiting to be understood. Your mission? Build a trusting relationship, provide gentle structure and guidance, and support him in re-engaging with the curriculum — especially at a Year 2 level academically. You’ll be replacing an agency member of staff and stepping into a school environment that understands the power of patient, relationship-focused support.
