Deputy Information Governance Manager
This role is based at the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WWL). We are looking for a proactive and detail‑oriented Information Governance officer to help protect patient data, enable ethical information use and support high‑quality care through sound governance.

You will:
* Advises staff on Information Governance best practices and supports Freedom of Information and Subject Access Requests.
* Supports the completion of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and the Defence Services Personnel Tax (DSPT) / CAF.
* Maintains up‑to‑date knowledge of Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR, Caldicott Principles, and relevant NHS guidance.
* Provides training sessions and communications on confidentiality and appropriate record access.
* Co‑ordinates the roll‑out of the Trust Document Control Programme, liaising with key stakeholders.
* Produces monthly performance reports for executive review, using statistical process control techniques.
* Monitors Trust compliance with core performance standards and supports the Document Control Programme.
To succeed in this role you will need:
Qualifications
* Professional or management qualification equivalent to degree level, or significant NHS experience.
* Relevant qualifications in Data Protection, Information Processing, Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulations, or Records Management.
* ECDL certification.
* Statistical review of outputs.
Experience
* Experience working with information in the NHS or a similarly large organisation.
* Experience of the Information Sharing Gateway.
* Working knowledge of Information Governance principles and practices.
* Database design and systems management.
* Experience in a confidential and secure environment.
* Awareness of corporate and health records management issues.
* Experience developing policies and procedures.
* Interacting with staff at all levels and delivering training.
* Working in a risk assessment environment and in a multi‑disciplinary team.
Skills
* Self‑motivation and ability to work with limited supervision while meeting deadlines.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, including ability to lead and influence staff at all levels.
* Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
* Capability to communicate effectively with staff and the public.
* Literature review and quality assurance skills.
* Positive attitude and commitment to continuous professional development.
Knowledge
* Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR, Caldicott Principles.
* Freedom of Information and Environmental Information Regulations.
* Information Governance agenda in the NHS.
* Confidentiality and sensitivity of Person Identifiable Information.
* A good working knowledge of the Information Sharing Gateway.
* Understanding of general NHS functions and business objectives of client organisations.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
