The Bookkeeper will perform a range of bookkeeping tasks in a casual, but driven environment. The details are important and this role will help our company continue to succeed and grow.
Schedule
We anticipate a schedule of 10 hours/week. Our office hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm CT, M‑F, and the successful candidate will generally be able to select their in‑office hours over two or more days per week. This position is based in our new, modern Hinckley, IL location.
Responsibilities
* Update and maintain QuickBooks data and reports
* Manage account reconciliation to ensure the accuracy of transactions
* Prepare quotes, invoices, itemized statements and record amounts due for items purchased and/or services rendered
* Create reports, letters, financial statements, and other documents as needed
* Maintain files, both electronic and paper, in a manner which meets document management and regulatory standards
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
* Track fixed assets and help prepare depreciation schedules
Qualifications & Skills
* Basic accounting knowledge and understanding of accounting best practices
* Daily bookkeeping and the experience from it (3 years of experience required; if bookkeeping experience was part‑time and/or a small portion of the job, 5 years)
* Experience in a position responsible for maintaining confidential information
* Attention to detail, producing work with a high level of accuracy
* A track record of being organized, accomplishing goals, and producing great results
* Demonstrated accountability in your daily work and special projects
* A flexible mindset, remaining resilient when change occurs
* Success in solving problems and offering a solution to prevent the problem from reoccurring
* Exceptional communication skills, including listening, oral and written
* Success working in a fast‑paced environment and/or start‑up environment
* A High School diploma or equivalent
* Proficiency in QuickBooks (3 years of experience generally required)
* Applied knowledge of both Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
* Proficiency in Google Sheets, Docs, and Slides
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
* Bookkeeping experience for a federal contractor, specifically DoD
