About the role
A well-established multi-disciplinary consultancy is seeking an Assistant Structural Engineer with around 2 years experience to join its growing team in Hertfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer with some consultancy experience to develop their technical skills within a supportive and collaborative environment. You will be joining a dynamic structural engineering team delivering projects across a range of sectors including commercial, residential, energy, and R&D. Working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you will gain exposure to both new build and refurbishment projects, supporting your progression towards Chartership.
Responsibilities
* Carry out structural design and analysis in steel, concrete, timber, and masonry
* Use industry software such as Tekla and TEDDS
* Collaborate with architects, clients, and multidisciplinary teams
* Support project coordination, planning, and reporting
* Attend meetings and liaise with stakeholders
* Conduct site visits and ensure compliance with design and safety standards
* Contribute to innovative design solutions and problem-solving
Qualifications
* Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent)
* Ideally 2+ years’ experience within a structural consultancy
* Experience designing in common building materials
* Understanding of geotechnics and foundation design
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Proactive, self‑motivated, and keen to develop professionally
* Working towards Chartership (IStructE or ICE)
