Urology Cancer CNS/Urology Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic individual to join the Urology cancer nursing team. We are looking to recruit a band 6 Urology cancer nurse who will develop into a band 7 with training and development, or an experienced Urology Cancer CNS.
As a Urology Cancer CNS, you will work as part of the multidisciplinary team, ensuring that patients with urology cancer receive the highest standard of care and support from diagnosis, throughout the cancer pathway, and to live with and beyond cancer.
Main duties of the job
To perform an effective key role within the MDT to deliver cancer waiting times targets and pathways communication.
To act as a specialist resource for patients and the clinical team by providing comprehensive advice, information, teaching and training both within LNWUHT and externally.
Update own clinical and specialist knowledge. Contribute to audit processes. Undertake, where appropriate, nursing research with published outcomes.
Promote excellence in clinical practice, and the setting of quality standards within specialty.
Active involvement in the development of the service locally and nationally.

Person Specification
Education/qualifications
* Registered nurse at degree level.
* Currently registered with NMC
* Post registration qualification appropriate to cancer speciality/willingness to complete
* Evidence of relevant continued professional development relevant to the clinical area
* Ability to complete set competencies to attain a clinical nurse specialist role within 12 months
* Recognised teaching qualification or working towards
* Fundamentals in Cancer Care (level 7 module) or equivalent
Knowledge and experience
* Relevant post registration experience at band 6 or above in oncology or tumour site related clinical area
* Previous experience of teaching and developing teaching materials
* Experience of multi‑professional working
* Demonstrate evidence of highly developed clinical practice with experience of dealing with complex clinical scenarios and interpreting complex needs of patients
* Experience and Knowledge of Urological Surgical interventions
