Job overview

Saving lives, saving NHS money and transforming services for patients – that’s our mission at Health Innovation East Midlands (HIEM).

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially focused individual to join our Commercial team supporting healthcare innovators. This is a fantastic opportunity to work across the East Midlands and the Health Innovation Network, contributing to programmes designed to enable improvements in clinical outcomes, deliver better patient experiences, contribute to driving down the cost of care and stimulate economic growth.

The role will appeal to those with account/relationship management expertise who enjoy hybrid working, predominantly working from home, with some expectation to work in our Nottingham office and travel occasionally for meetings, events, and conferences. Experience of utilising a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and a Learning Management System (LMS) would be advantageous. This role is offered on a permanent basis, at an Agenda for Change (AfC) Grade 6.

Closing date is Sunday 26th January 2025.

Applicants for interview will be notified on Thursday 30th January. The provisional date for interview is Thursday 6th February 2025. A short presentation will be required.

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will be responsible for leading on some key Commercial projects vital to the development and growth of HIEM, including a particular focus on the delivery of external programmes offering support to innovators and providing commercial support to internal HIEM developments.

The Commercial Project Officer role provides effective support for our industry and innovator focused activities. The role acts as a key interface between Health Innovation East Midlands and Regional (and relevant wider UK based) life sciences and healthcare commercial companies and social enterprises.

The role not only coordinates support for innovators but is also a connector between the NHS and our Innovation partners. The role maintains and manages these relationships and that of our key partners and national bodies within the innovation eco-system to ensure we grow our innovation pipeline and business activity. The post holder must be well organised, able to work under direction and their own initiative and be skilled at data analysis and reporting of impacts. The main duties evolve and adapt dependent on the needs of the various HIEM stakeholders, and identification of new projects and programmes of work.

The post holder will be predominantly home based with an expectation to be at HIEM office on the University of Nottingham Innovation Park when required and with some travel throughout the East Midlands and occasionally nationally.

Working for our organisation

We are one of 15 Health Innovation Networks around England that operate as the innovation arm of the NHS.

We bring together partners from all sectors involved in health and care including the NHS, social care and public health, patients, research, third sector and industry – to identify, test and spread new technologies and better ways of working.

We save the NHS money, generate economic growth, empower health and care staff, and improve lives for patients.

We work closely with our health and care stakeholders to establish their priorities then provide support. As part of a national network, we import evidenced solutions from other Health Innovation Network regions and export our successful East Midlands programmes on a national basis.

We have a range of objectives, but our overarching aim is always to make a difference for patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Managing our partnerships and relationship with innovators is key within the innovation eco-system and coordination across 15 Health Innovation Network organisations. You will build and develop networks and relationships with Innovators, key NHS stakeholders across the East Midlands and nationally through the Health Innovation Network.

The project responsibilities of the post holder will evolve and adapt to the needs of the various HIEM stakeholders and the development of our innovator support programmes. The role will bring forward knowledge and insights that support both the continuation and further development of these programmes.
