About the role
We are looking for a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our Grounds Maintenance team, covering sites across East Cornwall. You will be responsible for the maintenance of Cornwall Council grounds including grass cutting (continuing the implementation of Cornwall Council’s ‘Wilding’ initiative), trimming hedges, weeding shrub beds, maintenance of sports pitches, council run cemeteries and closed churchyards. The successful candidates will have a wealth of experience in amenity horticulture and a proven track record of delivering excellent customer service.
About you
We are looking for you to bring:
1. Pesticide Application Certificate PA – PA
2. NVQ or equivalent in Horticulture or similar discipline is desirable
3. Recent experience of undertaking a similar role and experience of operating grounds maintenance machinery
4. This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence Class B as a minimum, Class CE is desirable
5. Self-motivation with the ability to use own initiative
