Job Details
Applicants are invited for the post of the Leicester Knee Fellowship commencing 7th August 2024 for a period of 12 months. There will be two successful applicants appointed. They will each do 6 months with a focus on soft tissue knee surgery and 6 months with a focus on revision knee arthroplasty.
The Leicester Knee Fellowship is specifically designed for a senior trainee [FRCS (orth)] who has planned for a career in knee surgery. The fellowship is a multi-consultant fellowship which offers 6 months within the soft tissue knee unit and 6 months within the complex arthroplasty unit. There is a strong backbone of arthroplasty throughout.
This post does not attract an NTN and is aimed at specialty registrars who have neared completion of their training and want a fellowship experience in knee surgery.
Main duties of the job
Candidates for this post will be expected to demonstrate a keen interest in knee surgery.
The Fellow is expected to attend up to three all day operating lists per week, attend out-patient clinics and take a lead role with the ward management of in-patients.
There is no on-call commitment, however there will be a 1 in 10 rota for providing a senior elective ward round on the weekend.
It will be assumed that, at the end of the appointment, the Fellow will obtain a consultant, or other comparable post, with a special responsibility for knee surgery.
Further information is available upon discussion.
About us
Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).
We have four primary goals:
high-quality care for all,

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.
Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
we are compassionate,

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
