Job Purpose
The Fabric Engineer is responsible for maintaining and looking after the R&D buildings and infrastructure at P&G Reading. The role supports the Contract Manager and works closely with the site team to deliver high-quality engineering and maintenance services, while following all Health & Safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and operate building systems safely and efficiently
* Complete planned (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks
* Carry out daily checks and report defects via the FM helpdesk
* Issue permits under the Safe System of Work
* Order required materials in a timely manner
* Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations
* Check and sign off specialist contractor work and report issues
* Maintain excellent housekeeping standards across plant rooms, workshops, and site areas
* Support the wider team with tasks outside core fabric duties where possible
Systems & Tasks You’ll Work On
* General building fabric repairs and decorating
* Minor plumbing works
* HVAC systems, air handling units, air conditioning, and chillers (Training Provided)
* Building Management Systems (Trend) (Training Provided)
* Pumps, motors, variable speed drives (Training Provided)
* Hot water systems and calorifiers (Training Provided)
* Fire systems (Training Provided)
Skills & Experience
* Experience in building fabric maintenance
* Good communication skills at all levels
* Comfortable using computers (Word, Excel, Outlook, tablets/PDAs)
* Able to work independently and as part of a team
* Good written skills for reporting
* Willing to adapt and assist outside core trade when needed
Qualifications (Preferred)
* C&G or equivalent experience in Fabric Engineering
* Legionella Awareness (L8 ACOP)
* Good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
* Strong organizational and admin skills
