SEMH Teaching Assistant – Rochdale

Cover People are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Rochdale to strenghten their SEND department, particularly to support the needs of students with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH). This is on going requirement at the school, so we're happy if you're able to start immediately or from January on a full time basis.
We're looking for resilient candidates with prior experience in similar support roles or with significant experience in Mental Health (or a desire to work in the field).
The school may also accept applicants with Social Work or Youth Work experience, supporting vulnerable individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEMH needs.
Behaviour management – supporting emotionally dysregulated children
Implementation of EHCP's.
Help create a safe and supportive classroom environment that encourages positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
Work alongside the teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop effective strategies for students.
Provide support and guidance to students, help them to overcome challenges
Requirements:
Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
Desire to work in mainstream secondary schools
Passion and drive to help impact the lives of the children around you
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred but not essential
Commitment to promoting an inclusive and positive learning environment.
Ideally previous experience working within a school for 6 weeks+
