Recycling is crucial for environmental protection and in the UK each year, it helps to save 10-15 million tonnes of carbon emissions - the equivalent of taking 3.5 million cars off the road. With the arrival of the "Simpler Recycling" initiatives next year, Knowsley is keen to boost recycling rates to reduce landfill, conserve resources and save energy. To realise its recycling targets, it needs the support of residents and there is a new food waste collection service coming in from March 2026 that provides opportunities to focus on recycling benefits for individuals, families, the community and the environment.
