About the Role:
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing one-to-one and small-group emotional and behavioural support to students who experience social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is driven to make a meaningful impact on young lives while working within a nurturing and collaborative setting.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide personalised emotional and mental-health support to students with SEMH needs.
* Assist in creating and delivering tailored support plans in collaboration with the pastoral team.
* Help maintain a safe, calm, and inclusive environment where students feel understood and valued.
* Support students in managing anxiety, behaviour, and self-regulation through positive strategies.
* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral leads, and external professionals to ensure joined-up support.
Requirements:
* Experience supporting young people with SEMH or mental-health needs (school-based or care background).
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
* Strong communication and rapport-building skills.
* Ability to work well both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* A solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
To work with GSL Education as a Mental Health Support Worker, you should:
* Have the right to work in the UK.
* Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
* Have a DBS registered to the update service, or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
