About the job:
We’re looking for a Water Treatment Technician or Senior Treatment Technician to join our Water Quality Team in Christchurch!
You’ll be part of a small, dedicated crew of professionals who ensure the safe delivery of water to Christchurch and Banks Peninsula residents. This is essential work that keeps our communities healthy and thriving.
Your day-to-day will include:
* Maintaining and inspecting chlorination dosing systems
* Online analysers, and 24/7 monitoring across 52 treatment plants.
* Helping to ensure our water treatment systems are running efficiently, effectively, and in line with drinking water standards.
We’ve got exciting projects underway, including major upgrades and installations. If you enjoy hands-on work, problem-solving, and seeing the impact of your efforts, this role offers plenty of variety and challenge.
What you’ll need:
We’re looking for someone who’s practical, reliable, and ready to learn. No prior experience in the water industry is required. Backgrounds in trades, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or similar fields are encouraged to apply, your skills may be an excellent fit.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
* A collaborative mindset and the ability to work independently once trained.
* NZ Certificate in Drinking Water Treatment Level 4 (or willingness to work towards it).
* Availability for 24/7 standby on a rotating roster.
* Experience with project installation work.
* Any general trades, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, or water reticulation experience is a plus.
* Experience in water treatment or industrial processes is desirable.
* Full Class 1 Driver’s Licence is essential.
All preferred candidates will be required to complete preemployment checks to the employer’s satisfaction. These checks include but are not limited to, Ministry of Justice criminal conviction report, medical assessment, and drug and alcohol testing.
