Location: Birmingham – Edgbaston / Harborne Area Contract Type: Full-Time | Term-Time Only Start Date: Immediate or next academic term Salary: Competitive, depending on experience Make a Real Difference – SEN Teaching Assistant in Edgbaston / Harborne Schools in Edgbaston and Harborne, Birmingham are seeking compassionate, patient, and motivated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistants (SEN TAs) to support pupils with a variety of learning, communication, and emotional needs. SEN TAs play a vital role in helping children reach their full potential. You will provide 1:1 or small group support, assist teachers in adapting lessons, and help pupils gain independence, confidence, and social skills. This is a highly rewarding role, where your support can have a direct impact on a child’s education and wellbeing. SEN provision is strong, supporting children with: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN) Specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, or numeracy challenges You may work in: Mainstream schools with SEN departments Resource bases attached to mainstream schools Specialist provisions focusing on communication or learning difficulties SEN TAs are considered integral members of the school team, helping pupils engage with lessons and develop essential life skills. Your Role as an SEN TA Responsibilities include: Providing 1:1 or small group support for pupils with SEN Supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or other learning difficulties Adapting learning materials and resources to meet individual needs Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting self-regulation Supporting pupils in developing social, emotional, and communication skills Observing, recording, and reporting pupil progress to teachers and SENCOs Assisting pupils during transitions between activities or classrooms Supporting therapy or intervention sessions Assisting pupils with personal care where necessary You will be a calm, consistent, and encouraging presence, helping pupils navigate both academic and social challenges while fostering confidence and independence.
