The Role & Key Responsibilities
WANTED - full & part time financial investigators to target serious and organised crime groups - £40-£45,000
Are you ready to take on a dynamic and impactful role in the fight against economic crime? We’re looking for Fully Accredited Financial Investigators to join our Economic Crime Unit (ECU). Based at various locations across Surrey, you’ll play a vital role in disrupting criminal enterprises by tracing and recovering illicit assets.
As part of a specialist team, you’ll support investigations across the force, using your expertise to apply Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) powers and provide critical financial intelligence. This is a role where you can really make a difference, forming part of Surrey Police’s response to tackling serious and organised crime and ensuring that these offenders are brought to justice. You’ll form an integral part of our policing response and be working closely with our Serious and Organised Crime and Major Crime Teams.
As a financial investigator you will have a diverse caseload to utilise your specialist knowledge and accreditation for civil and asset recovery, to uncover evidence to identify criminality, criminal benefits, realisable assets and recoverable property. You will be targeting offenders of organised crime groups, serious acquisitive crime, and offenders of significant high harm offences such as threats to life kidnap and murder investigation.
We recognise that work life balance is important and for this reason we offer the ability to work in an agile manner with some attendance at police premises required and flexible working and part time working patterns will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead financial investigations, especially those involving criminal lifestyle offences
• Use POCA powers to confiscate, restrain, and forfeit criminal assets
• Act as an expert witness in court proceedings
• Develop financial profiles and liaise with institutions like HMRC, DWP, NCA, and Trading Standards
• Provide on-call support and deliver training to colleagues
• Support an out of hours on call service
• Preparing reports, statements and analysing and interpreting financial intelligence
Skills & Experience
• It is essential that the post holder has substantial, proven, and well-evidenced experience as an accredited Financial Investigator.
• Strong report writing and court presentation skills
• Knowledge of POCA, PACE, NIM, MoPI, Criminal Procedure Rules, and HRA
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams)
• Full UK manual driving licence and access to a business-insured vehicle
