Junior Web Developer
Location: 20 Cambridge Science Hub, Bar Hill, CB23 8SQ
Salary: Competitive, DOE + Excellent Benefits!
Contract: Full time, Permanent, Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to join a leading biotech company with branches in Cambridge (UK), Houston (US) and Leiden (NL), providing products and services globally.
We are looking for a tenacious, competent and organized individual to join our high‑paced, dynamic IT Team in Bar Hill as a Junior Web Developer!
You will be working with colleagues in other Teams to develop the front and back end of our website.
As our Junior Web Developer you will be responsible for:
* Identifying and fixing small and medium sized bugs
* Adding features to existing code in our web application
* Working as part of the team on development projects
* Adhering to SEO best practice for all tasks
* Suggesting automation and/or improvements for front and back end processes and functionality
In order to be successful in this role you must have:
* University degree in computer science, IT (BSc, MSc, PhD), equivalent experience or demonstrable interest in coding
* 1-3 years’ experience with PHP (at least intermediate level) and MySQL databases (at least intermediate level)
* Ability to write, read and interpret existing PHP code to understand the function and be able to debug the code
It would be great if you had:
* Experience with Opencart
* Ability to use MVC model and Git (version control system
You will be organized, efficient and practical. You will be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and will enjoy working both alone and in a team and be passionate about coding.
You will be great at logical thinking and solving problems and be tenacious with a keen eyefor detail. You will be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written and have the ability to articulate technical content to non‑technical stakeholders. You will enjoy challenges and be eager to learn.
Training will be provided. This role is 100% office based in a large open‑plan, newly refurbished modern office space
