The Role
As a Wheel Lathe Operative, you will be a key member of the engineering team, applying your machining skills to operate and program a state-of-the-art wheel lathe machine. This is a safety-critical operations role where your attention to detail, accountability, and knowledge of CNC programming will be crucial for maintaining key rolling stock components. Your work directly contributes to a sustainable and efficient transport network, reducing carbon emissions and supporting the UK economy.
Responsibilities
* Operating and programming the wheel lathe machine, a specific type of machining tool
* Using micrometers and gauges for accurate measurement and inspection of wheels
* Performing routine maintenance on the lathe and its associated tooling
* Interpreting technical drawings and engineering specifications
* Upholding the highest safety standards at all times
* This role requires demonstrable experience as a machinist and the ability to work on a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern (covering days and nights)
