Project Context
The Project is the expansion of an existing process facility located on a Nuclear site in Capenhurst, Cheshire (UK). The facility is being expanded to support UK energy security. The project scope includes overseeing FEED and coordinating design deliverables to facilitate construction contract award. Depending on FEED outcomes, there may be a follow-on EPCM contract for main works. The role is based at the project design office (Warrington) with travel to Capenhurst as required. A minimum of three days per week in person attendance is anticipated, with full-time in-person attendance required once site activity commences. Candidates must be able to obtain an SC security clearance.
Job Summary
You will act as the client’s key representative to administer a high-value construction contract. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver a complex infrastructure project on time, within budget and to quality standards. The role includes administering an NEC4 contract, assessing compensation events, certifying payments, accepting contractor programmes, and issuing instructions. You will operate in a collaborative environment while maintaining impartiality between the parties. This position is part-time telework per the global policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week.
Major Responsibilities
1. Contract Administration: Administer the NEC4 contract as the named PM, including issuing instructions, notices and certificates in compliance with the contract.
2. Compensation Events: Manage the compensation event process, assess cost and time impacts within contractual deadlines.
3. Payment Certification: Assess and certify payments, including identifying disallowed costs.
4. Risk and Early Warnings: Oversee the risk register and early warning process to proactively mitigate issues.
5. Programme Management: Evaluate and accept the Contractor’s programme to ensure adherence to scope, logic, float and key dates.
6. Stakeholder Management: Engage with client, contractors and third parties to maintain impartial, effective and collaborative communication.
7. Safety: Maintain a safety-conscious approach and a zero-accident philosophy.
Education And Experience Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
* Degree qualified in an engineering-based discipline
* NEC Project Manager accreditation
* Proven record of administering NEC3/NEC4 ECC contracts in a named role
* Nuclear or energy sector experience would be of particular interest, though not essential
* Evidence of CDM training, accountability and implementation
* Strong background in civil / mechanical / process engineering, infrastructure or construction
