Managing Quantity Surveyor - Water Infrastructure, Swansea, South Wales
A leading infrastructure contractor delivering essential water and wastewater projects across South Wales is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial operations on a £40m per annum framework. The work involves high-volume, low-value projects that are critical to maintaining and upgrading the region's water networks. This is a senior position and a key hire for my clients growing delivery team offering autonomy and commercial influence across a major regional framework.
Role Overview
The Managing Quantity Surveyor will oversee commercial delivery across multiple workstreams within the water infrastructure framework. The role combines hands-on contract management with strategic leadership, ensuring commercial performance, compliance, and consistency across all projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Build, Lead and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors, setting commercial standards and driving performance.
* Manage all pre- and post-contract commercial activities, including cost planning, forecasting, and reporting.
* Ensure adherence to NEC contract conditions and client governance requirements.
* Oversee procurement and subcontract management strategies to maintain cost efficiency and mitigate risk.
* Provide commercial insight and reporting to senior leadership, maintaining alignment with financial and delivery targets.
* Support the continuous improvement of commercial frameworks and best practice within the business.
* Liaise directly with client representatives, ensuring clarity and consistency on scope, budget, and performance metrics.
Essential Requirements
* Proven experience in a senior or managing QS role within the water, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
* Strong commercial acumen with demonstrable experience under NEC contracts.
* Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
* Excellent leadership and stakeholder management capability.
* Track record of managing commercial delivery across multi-project or framework environments.
Desirable Requirements
* Chartered with the RICS or equivalent professional body.
* Familiarity with public sector procurement and compliance frameworks.
* Experience within water capital delivery or asset renewal programmes.
