At Langafel CE Primary we are looking for a committed HLTA, with experience in SEN settings in Early Years/KS1/KS2. This role is for our resourced provision for autistic children.
HLTA's will be expected to work effectively with individual pupils, small groups and whole classes under the direction and supervision of a class teacher. They will contribute to, and need to demonstrate skills in, planning, monitoring, assessment and class management. HLTA’s would also be expected to work as part of the school team and contribute to plans to ensure the school meets its aims.
Candidates most suited to the post will have:
1. Have NVQ 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent.
2. Meet Higher Level Teaching Assistant standards – see DfES/TTA document “Professional Standards for higher level teaching assistants” for further information.
3. Experience of working with children in Early Years/KS1 or KS2
4. Experience of working with children with autism
5. Training for and/or experience of Little Wandle (or similar Phonics programme)
6. Positive, friendly and upbeat personality
7. Minimum of two years experience working as a Teaching Assistant
8. Knowledge of child protection/safeguarding
9. The ability to be proactive and flexible
10. Have qualifications in Maths/numeracy and English/literacy equivalent to at least NVQ2
