Depute Head Teacher for Curriculum, Timetabling & Attainment
Fixed term (20/10/25-26/06/26). Substantial experience of timetabling within a secondary school is essential. Key responsibilities:
- Whole School Leadership
- Contribute to the strategic leadership and management of the school to achieve our school improvement priorities.
- Lead the creation of the timetable
- Lead the strategic development of curriculum, coursing, and innovative pathway development.
- Pastoral Head of House role for pupils, working with a Pupil Support Leader.
- Fostering strong partnerships with pupils, staff, parents, partners and the wider community.
Senior Phase Focus
- Lead attainment target setting, analysis and interventions..

An opportunity has arisen for a temporary full time DHT to work within our Senior Leadership Team, to play a key role in shaping and driving our ambitious direction of travel. We’re looking for a dynamic, highly motivated, forward-thinking member of promoted teaching staff with a real passion for education and working with young people. You will contribute to the strategic leadership and management of the school, and help us achieve our school improvement priorities. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate impactful leadership experience within a secondary school, and (for the Curriculum & Timetabling DHT role) have substantial experience of timetabling within a secondary school.
Secondments from within East Lothian Council are welcome, candidates must have the support of their Head Teacher before submitting their application.
Interviews will be held in the week beginning 25 August .
Job Details
The role of a Depute Head Teacher is to assist and, where necessary, to deputise for the Head Teacher as required. The role of the Head Teacher is, within the resources available, to conduct the affairs of the school to the benefit of the pupils and the community it serves, through pursuing objectives and implementing policies set by East Lothian Council under the overall direction of the Head of Education.
