You’re in the right place. We are looking for a full-time teacher who has SEN experience or has specialised in managing challenging behaviour. Our school is based in Ebbw Vale and caters to students aged 3-19 years old all with a range of ALN. The school’s mission is to empower and support individuals to be resilient, independent and to develop skills to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities of the role-
- Deliver highly engaging, personalised lessons that meet the diverse needs of learners with ALN across a wide range of abilities.
- Create a supportive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment where pupils feel safe, valued and motivated to learn.
- Work collaboratively with a specialist multidisciplinary team, including therapists, support staff and external practitioners, to provide a holistic approach to learning.
- Integrate sensory activities, communication strategies and therapeutic approaches into daily teaching practice
- Support pupils in developing essential life skills, independence and confidence both within the classroom and in wider school contexts.
- Monitor progress closely, assess individual needs and adapt teaching methods to ensure every pupil can thrive.
- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues to ensure consistent support and continuity of development.
- Contribute to whole-school initiatives aimed at enriching the learning experience and preparing learners for their next steps into adulthood.

Requirements-
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience specialising in SEN teaching environments
- Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Registration with the EWC (Education Workforce Council) or eligible to register.
- A genuine interest in developing a career within the SEN/ALN sector.
- Ability to use Makaton (or a commitment to undertake training) is preferred but not essential.
- Ability to travel to the school and between sites when required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
