Job Title: Social Worker – Standard (Children) (Social and Healthcare Qualified)

Location:S44 6HF

Job Type: Temporary

Hours Per Week: 37.00

Job Purpose:
To work as part of a Children’s Services team, providing high-quality social work services to children, young people, and their families. The post holder will assess needs, plan and deliver interventions, and promote the safety, well-being, and development of children and young people. This role requires an experienced and confident practitioner with a strong understanding of safeguarding, child development, and statutory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
Undertake assessments and develop care plans in line with statutory requirements, working within the frameworks of relevant legislation and guidance.

Promote the welfare and safety of children by identifying risks, intervening effectively, and ensuring appropriate safeguarding measures are in place.

Work collaboratively with children, families, and other professionals to ensure coordinated support and intervention.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records using electronic case management systems.

Participate in multi-agency meetings, case conferences, and reviews as required.

Provide direct support and interventions to children and families, using creative and evidence-based methods.

Operate flexibly, including some evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of service users.

Maintain professional boundaries and uphold the highest standards of conduct and ethics.

Comply with all policies and procedures relating to equality, diversity, and anti-discriminatory practice.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
Degree in Social Work or equivalent professional qualification.

Registered Social Worker (Social Work England or equivalent).

Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience working with children and families in a local authority setting.

Proven knowledge of child development, safeguarding procedures, and relevant legislation.

Experience in working with complex and challenging family situations.

Strong communication skills—both verbal and written.

ICT proficiency, including case management and reporting systems.

Skills and Competencies:
Ability to build trusting relationships with children and families, using a strengths-based and empathetic approach.

Confident in working autonomously and making informed decisions under pressure.

Ability to maintain professional relationships and appropriate boundaries.

Capacity to communicate clearly and sensitively with service users from diverse backgrounds.

Willingness to travel across the local authority area as required.

Commitment to working in a flexible and responsive way to meet service demands.
