About Gate 8A Gate 8A is a busy, diverse, and highly skilled ward caring for patients with a wide range of gastroenterology, hepatology, and endocrine conditions. Our IQILS accreditation reflects our commitment to safe, effective, and evidence-based practice, as well as our dedication to continuous improvement and professional development. Working alongside the Ward Manager, you will help lead a close, supportive team of nurses and doctors who collaborate to provide high-quality, patient-centred care.


Main duties of the job

What You'll Be Doing

* Providing strong, proactive leadership as the nurse in charge of the shift
* Supporting and developing junior staff, students, and new starters
* Ensuring safe and effective patient care within a fast-paced clinical environment
* Coordinating admissions, discharges, and patient flow
* Acting as a role model for compassionate, inclusive, and evidence-based practice
* Managing clinical risk, escalation, and decision-making with confidence
What We're Looking For
* A registered nurse with substantial post-registration experience
* Previous experience within endocrine, hepatology, or gastroenterology services would be advantageous.
* Proven leadership ability with excellent communication and organisational skills
* Teaching or mentorship qualification is desirable.
* A commitment to professional development, service improvement, and patient safety
* Someone who thrives in a collaborative, supportive team environment
