Overview
We are seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in-house clinical team at Underley Gardens School, Kirkby Lonsdale, Lancashire. This role sits within Outcomes First Group, part of the Options Autism brand, and supports children and young people aged 5–19.
Responsibilities
* Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils within an education setting, following the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working.
* Hold a Speech and Language Therapy caseload with the full support of your designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
* Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
* Collaborate with education teams to foster pupil independence and contribute to an enhanced SLT offer (including supporting apprentices, students and therapy assistants).
* Participate in research projects, special interest groups, and SLT networks where opportunities arise.
Location
Underley Gardens School, Kirkby Lonsdale – part of the Options Autism brand; an independent specialist day school for children and young people aged 5–19.
Salary
Salary: Up to £53,200 pro rata (dependent on experience). Salary scale: basic SALT from £33,000+, Specialist from £39,500+, Highly specialist from £48,000+ (pro rata).
Hours & Contract
Hours: 24 hours per week, 3 days, 8:30am–4:30pm.
Contract: Permanent (term-time only, or flexibility around a full-time contract can be discussed based on personal circumstances).
Essential Criteria
* Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
* HCPC registered.
* 1–2 years' experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT working in a similar setting.
* Experience engaging with individuals with complex and diverse communication profiles; knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
* Experience of multidisciplinary working and of communicating with/working with families, relatives and carers.
* Interest in developing knowledge and skills across different areas of SLT practice.
* Strong relationship-building, analytical and judgmental skills; good oral and written communication; good time management and organisational skills.
* Competent in core SLT practice and understanding of RCSLT communication standards; knowledge of SLT assessment tools and intervention types; ability to formulate support plans based on needs.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management with the client group.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Willingness to attend training and work towards further qualifications relevant to the client group.
Desirable
* Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication.
* Understanding of the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
* Full driving license and access to a car (highly desirable).
