Job Title: Senior Residential Support Worker
Location: Walsall, West Midlands
Salary: Up to £30,240 per annum (excluding additional £70 per sleep-in shift)
Hours: Average of 160 hours per month (rota-based) + sleep-ins
Reports to: Registered Manager / Deputy Manager

About the Role This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join a well-established childrens home in Walsall. You will play a key role in supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, ensuring they receive the highest quality of care, structure and emotional support in a safe, nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities Support the Registered and Deputy Manager in ensuring the home operates in full compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
Safeguard and promote the welfare, health, and well-being of the children in your care.
Provide structure, support, and purposeful activity inside and outside the home, including cooking and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
Build meaningful, positive relationships with young people, role-modelling constructive behaviours and supporting personal, social and educational development.
Act as a keyworker for designated children, contributing to care plans and attending reviews.
Write high-quality reports and maintain clear, accurate records in line with policy and legislation.
Lead shifts and delegate tasks to Residential Support Workers, providing supervision and mentoring where required.
Oversee specific operational areas such as medication, health & safety, or food hygiene, as directed.
Assist in the induction and training of new staff and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Work on a rota basis including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in duties.
Essential Requirements Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent must be completed).
Experience working with children and young people in a residential care setting.
Understanding of child development and the needs of children with EBD.
Working knowledge of the Childrens Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
Strong safeguarding awareness and ability to respond to concerns appropriately.
Clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to lead by example and support less experienced colleagues.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Understanding of therapeutic or trauma-informed approaches.
Experience leading shifts and contributing to care plan reviews.
Confidence using IT systems for reporting and communication.
