Overview
The post holder will provide specialist input for adults requiring both inpatient and community rehabilitation primarily in the East area of North Wales, with flexible working and cross cover with the other two Consultant Rehabilitation Colleagues. There are currently three inpatient rehabilitation units and a locked rehabilitation ward across the region. You will actively work with the MDT and provide clinical leadership to ensure good quality holistic care. The post holder will be clinically responsible for those patients under their care and would be expected to work within the framework of the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010. As part of the Health Board's strategic collaboration with Bangor University, individuals with an interest in teaching and research who can demonstrate and agree a possible contribution to the School can be considered for honorary titles via the University process and help to deliver our shared vision for the North Wales School of Medicine and Health.
Main duties
The post holder will provide specialist rehabilitation and recovery service for the adult population of the East area (Wrexham & Flintshire). You will work within the legislative arrangements of the Mental Health Measure (Wales 2010) providing medical leadership to the CRT. The role involves Inpatient Responsible Clinician (RC) responsibilities for an 8 bedded open door inpatient rehab unit, Coed Celyn, Wrexham. The gender mix is 6 male and 2 female beds. Caseload includes treatment resistant schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, learning disability and complex emotional needs. The consultant is responsible for providing all the psychiatry input to the inpatient MDT, with MDT ward rounds every week and availability through the week to manage contingencies and deteriorations. You will have access to an office, full time secretarial support and IT facilities. There is the possibility of supervising a doctor in training (CT1-ST6), depending on training needs and seniority.

Qualifications & Eligibility
Essential criteria
* Full GMC specialist registration or within 6 months of obtaining CCT from date of interview
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
* MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
* Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
* Approved under section 12 or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
Desirable criteria
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
* Welsh AC Approval
* In good standing with GMC with respect to warnings and conditions on practice
Experience and Skills
Essential criteria
* Motivational skills
* Evidence of training in core and specialist competencies for community psychiatry
* Experience of delivering postgraduate teaching
* Experience of delivering multidisciplinary teaching
