Overview
Applications are invited for the role of Director of Breast Screening for North Lancashire and South Cumbria Breast Screening Service.
The North Lancashire and South Cumbria Breast Screening Service, as part of the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, operates Breast Screening and Symptomatic services from dedicated imaging units at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Furness General Hospital and Westmorland General Hospital. We also operate two mobile units in the community.
The service is a highly performing team with Consultant Radiologists, Consultant Radiographers, Advanced Practitioners, Mammographers, Assistant Practitioners, Clinical Support Workers, Programme Management and Admin teams. The unit is fully digital with a robust PACS system and is part of the UHMB Breast Multidisciplinary Team alongside Surgical, Histopathology, Breast Care Nurses and Oncology services.
Responsibilities
* Have responsibility for the leadership, management, performance, quality, governance and coordination of the service.
* Provide leadership and a behavioural role model for provision of compassionate care within the breast screening service.
About the locations
We operate from three main hospitals—Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal—as well as a number of community health premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI provide General Hospital services with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides General Hospital services with an Urgent Treatment Centre to assist with non-life threatening conditions.
All three main hospitals offer a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. Local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
