Working in the MEICA team of the SEW Engineering Department, you will report to the Senior Electrical Engineer and be responsible for the Electrical/ICA engineering output as part of project teams on capital engineering projects.
As a client-side Electrical Engineer, you will be involved in all stages of project delivery, from feasibility, scoping, detailed design, to construction and commissioning, within a multidisciplinary team.
You will contribute to technical deliverables on Capital Projects under the guidance of Project Managers and the Senior Electrical Engineer, following standards set by the Lead MEICA Engineer and relevant asset standards.
You will need to manage your workload to meet various project demands, adhere to Health and Safety/CDM regulations, actively identify hazards, and work towards their mitigation through engineering design. Building and maintaining relationships with peers, internal departments, and contracting partners is essential.
While the role offers flexible/hybrid working (office/home), travel to sites within South East Water’s supply areas may be required for tasks such as scoping, review meetings, or defect inspections.
Main responsibilities
* Development of technical solutions and coordination with multidisciplinary teams (Process, Civil, Mechanical)
* Production of technical reports, reviews, and approval of complex electrical designs, including calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings
* Analysis of options and selection of appropriate technical solutions
* Ensuring contractor designs comply with company and industry standards (Wimes, IET wiring regulations, etc.)
* Development of outline scheme designs
* Assistance with scheme programming, estimates, and tender documentation
Skills / Qualifications / Experience
* HNC or Degree in Engineering or equivalent training
* Working towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status with the IET
* Experience in water utilities is advantageous
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
* Technical competence with the ability to seek guidance when needed
* Proficiency in technical report writing and oral communication
* Knowledge of PLC systems, HMI, Variable Speed Drives, Harmonic filtration, data networks, telemetry, and standby generators
* IT skills including Microsoft Office; familiarity with Google Workspace is a plus

Compensation range:
