Location: Glasgow, G1 1XQ Salary: Grade 7 Banding, £36,924 to £45,163 per annum Job type: Full Time, Permanent, 35 hours per week – No overtime Electrical Technician – The Role: The University of Strathclyde are seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Technician to join their energy innovation centre based in Glasgow. This role is suited to a professional with a strong technical background who is eager to contribute to projects in a dynamic and safety-focused environment. Electrical Technician – Key Responsibilities: - Wiring and commissioning of electrical networks, power electronics, electric machines, LV protection, switchgear, and related control systems - Designing, scoping, and planning technical requirements in line with project needs, including procurement and delivery oversight - Developing and influencing robust electrical maintenance programmes to ensure system reliability - Applying sound knowledge of health & safety legislation relevant to the energy supply sector, particularly in LV and HV operations - Collaborating with internal teams, clients, and industry partners to deliver high-quality technical outcomes - Providing proactive input during project delivery, ensuring multiple demands are managed effectively, with safety as a priority Electrical Technician – You: - Strong technical expertise across LV protection systems, control systems, and electrical commissioning - Proven ability to manage projects, from initial design through to on-site delivery. - Clear and effective written & verbal communication skills for engaging with stakeholders across all levels - Demonstrated behavioural approach to operational safety and commitment to maintaining the highest standards - Negotiation and interpersonal skills that support collaborative working and issue prevention - The ability to work independently and manage competing demands effectively - Someone who is enthusiastic, positive, and resilient, with strong interpersonal skills and a proactive attitude towards safety and delivery Electrical Technician – Benefits: - Opportunity to work in an innovative, exciting environment with cutting-edge technology - Work with an industry leading client base - 14.5% pension - 31 days annual leave Bank holidays, - Flexible working arrangements - On-Campus nursery - Opportunity to gain a qualification that is fully supported and funded This is an excellent opportunity for a committed professional seeking to apply their technical knowledge in a challenging and rewarding environment.
