Job overview

We are recruiting for a Lead Midwife for Quality and Assurance who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

This role will support the strategic and operational delivery of a challenging quality improvement agenda across Women’s Services. The Lead Midwife for Quality & Assurance will be responsible for project managing all of the work streams within the Women’s Services improvement program portfolio, working collaboratively with other program managers including the program manager for the Local Maternity and Neonatal Systems and work stream teams, to deliver a variety of service improvement projects including NHS Resolutions 10 steps to safety.

Building upon program planning already undertaken, the Lead Midwife for Quality & Assurance will work closely with the patient safety programme leadership team, clinical leads and divisional management and governance staff to design, plan and deliver improvement projects using recognised quality improvement principles.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will champion and promote quality as a key focus within maternity and perinatal services and across the health system to improve clinical productivity and effectiveness.

You will also ensure effective governance systems are in place across maternity, neonatology and gynaecology; particularly guideline, audit, quality standards and quality improvement.

The post holder will provide expert advice to senior clinicians/managers on the successful delivery of small and large scale change projects.

Additionally, you will need to explain strategy and organisational decisions in relation to delivering the maternity safety and quality agenda to everyone in the organisation.

Qualifications / Training

* Registered Midwife with current NMC registration, Masters level qualification (or working towards) or equivalent experience
* Evidence of further professional and personal development
* Leadership or management module / qualification


Previous Experience

* Demonstrable experience in project management / quality improvement
* Ability to collate and analyse statistical and qualitative information
* Experience of implementing change projects
* Experience of effective working within a team and alone
* Experience of working with minimal supervision
* Demonstrates commitment to improving the quality of patient care
* Ability to support a range of staff and quality / clinical services / professional activity
* Experience of working with patients / service / stakeholders to improve quality of service
* Working knowledge of the CQC core service frameworks and KLOE
* Experience in engaging with service users and interpreting feedback into service improvements
* Quality improvement training
* Experience in providing advice on complex professional and other HR issues
