Successful candidates will be based out of our Rutherford House (Whitehaven) office, delivering and supporting high hazard decommissioning projects as part of a multi-discipline team within the Decommissioning Waste Services Business Unit. Location: Whitehaven (West Cumbria).
Our decommissioning services team comprises four key areas: Waste Management and Characterisation, Radiological Protection, Environmental Services, and On-site Support. We are a diverse team of professionals delivering technical and practical expertise to clients across the nuclear industry, addressing decommissioning and radiological waste management challenges.
As a decommissioning technician within the team, you'll have the opportunity to support a wide range of decommissioning challenges across these four areas, helping to develop your career and strengthen your skillset. Your responsibilities may include:
* Providing solutions to technical issues related to decommissioning, including waste, environmental, and radiological protection problems.
* Producing technical documentation such as environmental assessments, waste management plans, and radiological protection reports.
* Supporting activities to ensure clients meet permitting and legislative requirements within the regulated nuclear industry.
* Supporting clients at nuclear sites and off-site offices, which may require travel.
* Assisting with onsite decommissioning activities through AtkinsRéalis and client-led projects.

* Good literacy skills and the ability to produce clear, concise reports.
* An innovative mindset, open to ideas, with a questioning attitude.
* Highly motivated, proactive, flexible, willing to travel, and able to work in the field if needed.
* Effective communication skills with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
* Knowledge of the nuclear sector and decommissioning.
* Understanding of radiation principles and protection requirements.
