Successful candidates will be based at Rutherford House (Whitehaven) supporting high hazard decommissioning projects as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Decommissioning Waste Services Business Unit. Location: Whitehaven (West Cumbria).
Our decommissioning team comprises four key areas: Waste Management and Characterisation, Radiological Protection, Environmental Services, and On-site Support. We deliver technical and practical expertise across the nuclear industry to address decommissioning and radiological waste management challenges.
As a decommissioning technician, you will support various challenges across these areas, helping to develop solutions and strengthen your skills. Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
1. Providing solutions to technical issues related to decommissioning, including waste, environmental, and radiological protection problems.
2. Producing technical documentation such as environmental assessments, waste management reports, and radiological protection documentation.
3. Supporting activities to ensure compliance with permitting and legislation within the nuclear sector.
4. Traveling to different sites to support clients at their nuclear facilities and off-site offices.
5. Supporting onsite decommissioning activities through AtkinsRéalis and client-led projects.
