GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist provision in Chesterfield, supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. SEMH TA is a full-time role ideal for individuals who are resilient, empathetic, and committed to inclusive education.
Responsibilities as a SEMH TA:
Support students with SEMH needs both in and out of the classroom.
Promote emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and social interaction.
Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals.
Provide 1:1 and small group interventions.
Safely transport pupils when required as part of outreach or support plans.
Encourage personal development, independence, and confidence.
Requirements for SEMH TA:
Proven experience supporting young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
Calm, patient, and adaptable approach.
Full UK driving licence and business insurance (essential).
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
A CV covering the last 10 years with any gaps clearly explained.
