Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Tax Advisor to join our growing team to act as our internal subject matter expert for all tax queries. This role will provide proactive technical support and tax guidance to our Wealth Advisors across the group, helping to ensure clients receive well-informed, compliant financial planning across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of UK personal tax, as well as an understanding of cross-border tax considerations.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Tax Support
* Provide accurate, timely tax guidance to Wealth Advisors across the group, primarily relating to UK personal taxation and cross-border planning
* Interpret and apply tax legislation and double tax treaties to support effective financial strategies for international clients
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant tax laws and proactively share updates with advisory teams
Cross-Border Tax Advice
* Offer practical insights into the tax implications of international residency, domicile, pensions, and investments
* Assist Advisors in evaluating the impact of tax changes across multiple jurisdictions for globally mobile clients
* Support development of compliant investment and structuring strategies
* Develop knowledge and resources for use across all Skybound Wealth jurisdictions - UK, USA, Cyprus, Spain, UAE, Malaysia, and Mauritius
Training & Documentation
* Develop and deliver internal training sessions on tax topics for Advisors and Paraplanners
* Create and maintain internal tax guidance documents, FAQs, and reference tools
* Support with the development of tax rules and guidelines on the company's advice system (Plume)
* Contribute to internal knowledge sharing platforms and CPD sessions
Collaboration & Oversight
* Liaise with external tax professionals, accountants, or legal counsel where needed to support complex client cases
* Work alongside compliance and technical teams to ensure tax advice aligns with regulatory frameworks and internal policies
* Participate in the development of client-facing materials and insights, where required
Requirements
Essential:
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in tax advisory or private client tax, ideally with a focus on expatriate or HNW clients
* Strong knowledge of UK personal taxation and cross-border tax matters
* Working knowledge of at least one additional tax jurisdiction relevant to our client base (e.g., Spain, Cyprus, Switzerland, UAE, USA)
* Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex tax issues for non-technical stakeholders
Desirable:
* CTA, ATT, STEP, or relevant accountancy qualification (e.g., ACA/ACCA)
* Experience in a financial planning or wealth management environment
* Exposure to pension tax, non-dom rules, or residence-based tax planning
* Familiarity with international investment structures (e.g., offshore bonds, trusts)
