About the Role
As the Handyperson at Wellington Lodge, you will play an important part in keeping the home safe, functional, and well cared-for. Your responsibilities will include completing non-urgent, day-to-day maintenance tasks in residents’ homes and throughout the building. You will also be an ambassador for the service, engaging positively with residents and ensuring maintenance requests are handled efficiently and to a high standard.
You should be comfortable working independently, using your initiative to plan your workload and deliver high-quality results across a range of tasks.
Typical duties may include:
1. Minor carpentry repairs, such as fixing doors, windows, and fittings
2. Installing locks, shelves, and other fixtures
3. Minor plumbing work
4. Basic redecoration and general building upkeep
5. Supporting residents with small non-urgent maintenance jobs
About You
You will be customer-focused, approachable, and respectful of the independence and rights of older people. Strong communication and listening skills are essential, as is the ability to build positive relationships with residents and colleagues. Experience in general building maintenance or a relevant trade is required, along with a practical and solutions-focused approach to your work.
