Hours: 6 hours per week (weekends included)
Area: Fenham, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Rate: £13.50 per hour
Driver: Own wheelchair‑adapted vehicle essential
Responsibilities
* Assist a 12‑year‑old boy with Cerebral Palsy, Chronic Lung Disease and wheelchair dependence in accessing the community and attending school and leisure activities.
* Support the boy with feeding, personal care, and toileting as required.
* Transport the boy safely using a wheelchair‑adapted vehicle and provide assistance in operating the wheelchair.
* Accompany the boy to local parks, swimming pools, theme parks, football matches, cinemas and any family or religious events.
* Communicate effectively, adapting to the boy’s pronunciation and supporting his communication needs.
* Assist in planning and executing excursions and vacations, keeping cultural and religious requirements in mind.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Experience working with children with disabilities and complex needs.
* Own wheelchair‑adapted vehicle and must be an authorised driver.
* Physical fitness to operate and transport wheelchair safely.
* Knowledge of safety and health procedures for disabled transport.
* UK permission to work.
Additional Information
The successful candidate must respect the family’s Muslim faith and be comfortable during visits to religious sites such as Mecca.
